Our Story

As one of the first accredited members of the international Responsible Jewellery Council, we are part of a common platform of standards for the jewellery supply chain and credible mechanisms for verifying responsible business practices through third party auditing. Our certification recognises that our Uxbridge-based head office and all 128 stores nationwide meet the ethical, human rights, social and environmental standards as established by the RJC’s Member Certification Standard.

There’s no need to just take our word for it, we have been praised among the industry for our work and have numerous awards under our belt, including the Outstanding Contribution to the Jewellery Industry Award, given to us in 2022 to recognise not just our contribution over decades to the jewellery and watch industry, but especially the care and support we give our staff and customers. Among other awards, we were also crowned Family Business of the Year in 2014 and Multiple Fashion Jewellery

We wouldn’t be a local family business without giving back to those who need help. As well as donating to local charities across the UK, especially those supported by our staff, we run charity partnerships every year with charities such as BBC Children in Need, The British Heart Foundation, Save the Children and Cancer Research UK.

With five Hinds Family members on our Board of Directors as well as seventh generation member Paul Hinds as our Managing Director, we lead with family values at our heart. Of course, not all of our staff have the ‘Hinds’ surname, but we treat everyone as a big family. The success of F.Hinds and Chapelle is down to this wonderful extended family!

In 2019 we welcomed 12 Chapelle outlet stores.  Chapelle is the UK’s only jewellery and watch outlet specialist and Chapelle is growing again as part of our family. While also showcasing top watch brands and quality jewellery, at Chapelle we offer something different with discounts of at least 30% off High Street prices.

Our staff are our superstars and the F.Hinds and Chapelle brands wouldn’t be where they are today without the hard work and dedication of our amazing staff members. Some of our colleagues have worked for the business for 40 years+. Even in these modern times we are praised for our family feel but this just comes naturally to us. It might be to do with the fact that we have sixth and seventh generation Hinds family members on the Board of Directors!

From humble beginnings in Paddington in 1856 to 115 F.Hinds stores across England and Wales in 2022, we are proud to be a strong, family owned and independent British business. With many awards under our belt, we provide first class service to our customers and help them to celebrate their important life moments through beautiful jewellery, diamonds, watches and gifts.
